November Book Haul

November Book Haul

Well November was not fun in the least bit. My brother ended up in the hospital with a severe asthma flare up. He ended up staying in the hospital for 6 days. I ended up in the ER twice during that time with a very high heart rate (it ranged 160-190) I am very lucky I didn’t end up being admitted to the hospital. My brother and I both ended up with Rhinovirus as well. As for Prentiss, she had […]

Book Review: The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter

Book Review: The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter

I really should remember this experience the next time it takes me six months to read a book. I had so much hope for this book ever since I first heard about it. In fact, it was one of my most anticipated reads for 2016. I had talked it up so much last year and I had planned to get to it then as well. As luck would have it, I wasn’t able to pick it up until last spring. […]

Book Review: Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown

Book Review: Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown

I really hate when a book has so much promise and then it disappoints me in such a big way. This book seemed like it would be a really good one, especially given the fact that technology is something most teens have to deal with every day. Teens also battle peer pressure and that was also a big part of this book. Unfortunately, I found Ashleigh to be a giant pain in the ass. I know teenagers don’t generally have […]

Alexia’s Recent DNFs

Alexia’s Recent DNFs

Wow, I have not done one of these posts in awhile. I try to do them every month, but that just hasn’t happened lately. I’ve had a rough reading time over the past few months, although October was fabulous. reading-wise. Let’s talk about the books that just didn’t work for me over the past few months. You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour & David Levithan. I hate not being invested in a book that I know could be really important […]

Book Review: The Women in the Walls by Amy Lukavics

Book Review: The Women in the Walls by Amy Lukavics

I cannot believe it took me this long to read this book. October was such a perfect month to read it in though because it was creepy as hell. Really good creepiness too, although the creepiness didn’t really kick in until about halfway through. I was disappointed by the first half of the book and very nearly DNFed it. Oh boy, am I glad I stuck it out. This was my first book by Lukavics, but it sure as hell […]

Book Review: The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

Book Review: The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

This was my first Nova Ren Suma book, but it will absolutely not be my last. In fact, I’m tempted to go grab my copy of 17 & Gone off my bookshelf right now. I had no idea what to expect with this book, but I went into it, excited and really hoping I’d love it. And holy crap, I loved it. It’s almost the end of October and I feel pretty confident that this book is going to be […]

Falling in Love With Fantasy

Falling in Love With Fantasy

It’s no secret that fantasy books aren’t really my thing. I usually turn towards contemporary, science fiction or even horror books before fantasy books. But over the past 2 or so months, something has changed and I’ve found myself really into the fantasy genre. I’ve even given some fantasy books higher praise than contemporaries lately. It’s a weird shift that I wasn’t expecting and I also don’t know how long it will last. Like most bloggers, I do have a […]
